Inventor/Assembly

Hey there! I'm Dave Humphrey the inventor of the VIUD. I came up with the idea of trying to build the world's toughest USB drive in 2013 and have been working on it in my spare time since then. I have an education background in Physics (B.Sc. University of Waterloo, M.Sc. Queen's University) but my employment slowly changed that to an engineering role focused on creating autonomous inspection vehicles for inspecting large diameter water pipelines. A great job that I enjoyed although a rather dirty one at times. For the past few years I've been self-employed and working on the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages web site which I originally started in 1995 as a small hobby but has grown into a full time job.

I've realized that one of my overall passions in life is creating things, whether it was with Lego in my "youth", various pieces of software over the years, the uesp.net website, or with wood/metal working in my small basement/garage shop in the Greater Toronto area in Ontario Canada. I've always been fond of the saying:

Anything worth doing its worth doing well!

I have tried to apply that to all steps in the creation of the VIUD. I hope you enjoy using the VIUD as much as I had creating it!

Product Development & Support

Sunyoung is my wife and has been invaluable at helping provide me accounting and other product development advice throughout the process. She also helps out during some assembly processes and for shipping. Basically she's great at doing a little of everything! Thanks Jagi!

Moral Support

Odie and Newton may not help much with actual production of the VIUD but they're great at providing a little laugh and some kisses at the end of a long day. As a bonus they can also be paid in dog treats!
